Mountain troops had to be able to bring their heavy weapons with them and use them accurately and efficiently in extreme conditions with challenging logistics – training that proved very applicable in the Winter War, where the Argentine and Chilean volunteers proved to be some of the best of the non-Finnish troops at fighting under the harsh conditions of an Arctic Winter.
